Mechanism
The ratchet movement gives an easy way of gearing down
motion. In this case the red gear turns once for each
nine turns of the blue wheel. Another interesting property
of the ratchet is the intermittent nature of the motion.
In the above example the red wheel is turning on 50% of
the time whilst the blue wheel turns continuously.
