Levers can be used to change the distance and power of movement.
In the above example the distance from the weight to the fulcrum
is one third the distance of the finger to the fulcrum. As the
finger moves, the the weight moves only one third of the distance
but with three times the force.
Archimedes said that if he had a lever long enough and a place
to stand he could move the earth!
