Old Workshop Notes to March 2000 Back

11th January 2000

The fun of cardboard engineering with a computer is that it is so easy to experiment. Move a line 1mm to the left or right, print out the net again and small problems with geometry are easily corrected. Our latest model was of a somewhat experimental nature. Not even sure if it was possible, we've been experimenting with cardboard turbines.

The model shown here is a late iteration. Click here if you're interested in the design process, There've been some interesting problems and insights on the way so we thought we'd jot some of them down.

Okay, so its not made of card but we thought you might like to see our Technical Lego walking machine. The batteries and motor are off the shelf rather than Lego's own. The whole thing seems quite stable but tends to drift to the right.
Next step is remote control steering, then a cardboard version! Don't hold your breath!
