Hokusai (1760～1849) “36 Scenes of Mount Fuji” South Wind, Clear Dawn This work, often called “Red Fuji”, is one of Hokusai’s greatest masterpieces from his “36 Scenes of Mount Fuji” series. In late summer or early autumn when lit by the rays of the rising sun, Mount Fuji can appear dyed red. In contrast, when Fuji’s foothills are partly shadowed, it's summit stands in the blue morning sky, dotted with summer clouds. A tranquil, beautiful view of Mount Fuji.
